Your Worth

When negotiating your salary you need to emphasize all the benefits you bring to the company and show the value you add. You should underline previous achievements, and highlight scenarios where you went above and beyond, and remind the company of any increased workload, duties, and responsibilities.

Be Realistic

Don’t be afraid to ask for a salary at the higher end of the spectrum but be realistic. Check salaries against colleagues and friends in similar roles with similar responsibilities and use a few of the many salary checkers found online to give you a good idea of what you should command. If you don’t achieve the salary you wished for during the negotiations, ask for a six-month salary review, a performance related bonus structure, or other incentives to be added to your contract.

More To Life Than Money

Don't forget about the perks that make life easier, such as work from home options, enhanced annual leave, early finishes, company car, medical, gym memberships, the list is endless. Your employer will likely offer some of these incentives as standard but if there's a particular benefit you desire, don't be afraid to ask, some employers are very flexible.
